Scholarships in Perth

Senior Undergraduate Research Scholarships for UWA-Zhejiang University Joint Laboratory in Genomics and Nutriomics

To celebrate the 20 years sister state relationship between Western Australia and Zhejiang province the Department of Industry and Resources, Government of Western Australia, has provided four undergraduate research scholarships ($A 5,000 each) for two UWA students and two Zhejiang University students to spend four months conducting research in each other's laboratories.

Application details:

  1. Please provide a CV that contains a certified record of student record to date.
  2. Provide a one page project proposal - this should be written in consultation with a staff member from UWA and/or Zhejiang University that will act as primary supervisor during the visit.
  3. A one-page outline of future career ambitions or plans.
  4. List at least one academic referee contact details - (please note that this may be the course or unit co-ordinator).

Applicants must be students enrolled for a degree at UWA or Zhejiang University. All application should be in English. Application can be submitted via email as a single pdf file to the email address above.

Awards will be announced soon after the UWA closing date to allow successful applicants to plan their trip in advance with host laboratory

Postgraduate and Honours Scholarships:


ARC Centre of Excellence, Plant Energy Biology scholarships are a recognition of excellence in students, and are designed to help students focus on their project without the need to find external paid work.

Students must be enrolled at UWA.

* For PhD students, our scholarships are "top-ups", providing supplementary income to students' primary (UWA) scholarships, and their value will be equal to the difference between the value of the student's primary scholarship, and the ARC (APAI) award for that year (Currently $25,118).

* For Honours students, applications for our scholarships will be assessed individually, and the value will be to the level of the Australian Goverment tax-free threshold (Currently $6,000).

TO ASCERTAIN YOUR SUITABILITY: Contact the Investigator of your choice (email detail below) and discuss the possibilities with him. Should you proceed, you will need to have them agree to be named on your scholarship application.
